Maintenance Skills Of Digital Oil Painting

Apr 02, 2022

Digital oil paintings can be preserved for two or three hundred years if they are well maintained. But if not properly protected, some oil paintings may crack, fall off and discolor after decades. Any organism in nature will gradually grow old and stale over time. In the evolution of various natural laws, oil painting works have gradually appeared various problems of deterioration, and even faced the bottleneck of preservation. So, how to protect your digital painting from damage?

1. After completing the digital oil painting work, wait for the paint to dry completely, and evenly apply a layer of "glazing oil" specially designed for oil painting. The varnish can protect the paint and canvas of the picture, and make the picture look brighter and have a better texture.

2. When rolling the oil painting, lay a layer of transparent film paper on the front of the canvas, roll the canvas outside the special cardboard tube, and then wrap it with bubble wrap. This can ensure that the oil painting is clean, not deformed, and free of creases.

3. In oil painting, do not stick the two paintings face to face for a long time to avoid the temperature rising and the paint sticking together, causing the oil paint to fall off and the picture to be damaged.

Fourth, avoid sharp objects to damage the canvas during transportation. When handling oil paintings, face the front of the painting and be aware that finger dirt and grease may stain digital oil paintings and paints.

Fifth, choose the environment where the oil painting is hung to avoid long-term moisture and pollution.

6. Two layers of natural beeswax pre-dissolved in turpentine can be thinly coated on the back of the canvas, which can completely prevent damage caused by the immersion of moist air.

7. Do not spray the oil painting with chemicals such as sprays and pesticides.

8. Dust has fallen on the screen for a long time. You can use a brush to gently brush it off, or use a soft material that is semi-dry and semi-wet. Oil paint is insoluble in water, but it will change color when exposed to moisture for a long time, so use a wet towel to wipe it carefully. If there is oil smoke on the oil painting, you can try to scrub gently with a small amount of light soapy water and water, and then quickly use a sponge to dry the water on the painting, and then use an electric fan to blow the surface of the oil painting lightly. Oil paintings with a long history can be maintained with professional varnishes. Before spraying varnishes, wipe the pictures with a clean cloth.

9. In addition, if you encounter problems with oil painting restoration, please leave it to professionals to help you.
